Start with the symptom
A running microwave without heat needs model-specific assessment. Internal high-voltage parts are not homeowner access points.
What are you noticing?
- Runs but does not warm food
- Sparking or unusual noise
- Door or latch damage
- Unresponsive controls
Observe the display and normal functions
Record whether the light, turntable and controls operate and when the change began. These details help an assessment but do not identify a failed high-voltage component. Do not remove the cabinet; hazardous stored energy can remain after disconnection.
Stop use for damage or arcing
A damaged door, compromised latch or visible sparking needs attention before further operation. Never bypass an interlock or run the microwave empty as a test. Follow only the manufacturer-approved cleaning and accessory instructions.
Compare a supported repair with replacement
An over-the-range or integrated installation can involve lifting, trim and ventilation. Ask whether the exact model is supported and compare the whole repair with a compatible replacement, including removal and installation work.
Ask what is included
The written scope should identify the actual provider, diagnosis, proposed part and labor. Confirm the diagnostic charge, any fee credit, access work, exclusions and the conditions for additional approval. Ask what operating or safety check will verify the agreed work. Prime does not promise a stocked part, same-day attendance or a particular repair warranty.
