Start with the symptom
A hum, a jam or water beneath the sink can require different work. Confirm the unit and source before authorizing a replacement.
What are you noticing?
- Hums without normal movement
- Water beneath the disposal
- Drain backs up during use
- Unit does not respond
Locate the source of the observation
Describe whether water appears at a connection, near the mounting area or from the unit body. Mention sink and dishwasher drainage changes. A disposal leak and a separate plumbing leak need different scope, and a reset button does not repair a damaged seal.
Do not reach into the unit
Keep hands and tools out of a powered disposal. Follow the exact model instructions for any accessible permitted care. Stop use for leakage near electrical parts, burning smells or repeated protection trips instead of repeatedly trying to restart it.
Confirm the appliance and plumbing boundary
Ask whether the provider handles the disposal itself, the drain system or both. Include connections, removal and an appropriate leak or operating check in the written scope. A replacement comparison should use a compatible unit and the full installed cost.
Ask what is included
The written scope should identify the actual provider, diagnosis, proposed part and labor. Confirm the diagnostic charge, any fee credit, access work, exclusions and the conditions for additional approval. Ask what operating or safety check will verify the agreed work. Prime does not promise a stocked part, same-day attendance or a particular repair warranty.
